String encryption

Executing the following command encrypts the <connectionStrings> section of a Web.Config file
located in a folder with the path c:\Websites\MyWebsite:
   aspnet_regiis -pef connectionStrings "c:\Websites\MyWebsite"

The -pef option (Protect Encrypt Filepath) encrypts a particular configuration section located at a particular path.

You can decrypt a section with the -pdf option like this:

    aspnet_regiis -pdf connectionStrings "c:\Websites\MyWebsite"

In web.config or app.config.

Bluetooth annoyances with HP Notebook ProBook 4720s

clock Dezember 22, 2014 21:36 by author Administrator

Migrating to Win8.1 I had some trouble in understanding what’s going on

while installing Bluetooth Driver saying Bluetooth is switched off and an install will be

not possible.

Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth 3.0 Software and Driver

Ralink/Motorola BC4 Bluetooth 3.0 + HS Adapter Driver

On Windows 8.1 there will be no Bluetooth-Adapter visible in Devicemanager

after a clean install of Win8.1.

Reason: Not using WLAN, but having a LAN cable connected!

This will switch off WLAN and Bluetooth-adapter. There will be no way to install any

driver. The Windows Driver will be sufficient, no need of old HP/Broadcom-drivers.

Turn off LAN-Cable, switch on WLAN, no Bluetooth adapter will be seen in device manager …

After searching the Internet, I found a frustrating “nothing “ to get rid of this problem.

By pressing accidentally the WLAN-Activation button for some seconds the Bluetooth-icon appeared

in the taskbar and “PC and devices”-Metro-dialog … (without installing any driver above … Thank you HP!)

Bluetooth Adapter will be switched on!

By inserting a LAN-cable, the WLAN/Bluetooth –combiadapter will be automatically switched off by Windows !

By disconnecting LAN will WLAN be activated, bot not Bluetooth!

There are some misleading infos:

and so on, for thousands of users, including me …

System Partition

clock Dezember 6, 2014 09:50 by author Administrator

System Reserved Partition

On Windows 7, the size is 100 MB whereas on Windows 8, it is 350 MB. Do you really need this space? I would recommend that you not delete this partition. You can instead prevent it being created during Windows installation. If you are sure that you will not be using BitLocker, then you may go ahead.

To do this, TechNet recomends you use the Diskpart utility from the setup program.

At the beginning of the Windows setup, just before you select the location where you want to install Windows, press Shift+F10 to open a Command Prompt. Type diskpart to enter the Diskpart environment. Use select disk 0 and create partition primary to manually create a new partition. Continue with the Windows installation using this new partition as the setup location.
